How important are these commands?

The Ten Commandments often strike modern people as either patently obvious (Do not murder...) or hopelessly irrelevant and out of date (You shall have no other gods before me...). But dig a little deeper and you discover that they are a profound analysis of what’s wrong with the human heart, and they point us towards a cure. 

The first written scripture, the seed of the Bible, given by the finger of God, these commandments are absolutely timeless. Each of them searches us, our motivations and our actions, in a way that often feels uncomfortable but always brings us back to our need for Jesus.
