Let Your Kingdom Come started with a simple WhatsApp message. “For the next song, I’d love for us to write something with a missional focus”, Pete typed, “I think we’re lacking songs with that kind of theme.”

More than that, we wanted the song to be mission-focused without being self-focused. Not singing about what we’re going to do for God, but what he’s already doing in the world. He’s the one who predestines, calls, and justifies the lost. He doesn’t need us. But in some wonderful and mysterious way, he invites us to share his good news. We’re representatives of a king, sent to declare a message of hope in towns and cities everywhere.

The pressure is off. The Father is working, and his kingdom is coming. We get to join in his work and watch in amazement as he changes London with the good news of his Son, Jesus.

Lyrics

Verse 1

The Father’s heart is longing

To lead the wanderer home

He’s waiting, ever patient

To call the lost his own

His love’s a roaring fire

That burns for every soul

It shines into the darkness

And melts the heart of stone

Chorus

Raise a shout for the king who reigns

Raise a cry for his holy name

Raise a song for our city

Let his kingdom, his kingdom come

Send us out as your holy church

Send us out to a dying world

Send us out by your spirit

Let your kingdom, your kingdom come

Verse 2

There’s hope on the horizon,

The Father’s heart is longing

To lead the wanderer home

He’s waiting, ever patient

To call the lost his own

His love’s a roaring fire

That burns for every soul

It shines into the darkness

And melts the heart of stone

Bridge

Let your kingdom come in us

Let our hearts burn for the lost

For your glory, all for Christ

To the nations we will tell

Of a love that never fails

For your glory, all for Christ
