Singing has always been part of life as God’s people. The writers of the Psalms frequently invite us to make a melody to the Lord. The Apostle Paul encouraged the church in Colossae to “sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to God.” (Colossians 3.16). The songs of God’s people echo through the ages.
We hope the resources below cause you to lift up a song too, wherever you find yourself.

Worship Matters by Bob Kauflin. I (Jono) read this book shortly after starting to lead worship and found it incredibly formative. Bob Kaufflin, a seasoned worship leader and songwriter, explores what biblical and God-honouring worship looks like. This foundation precedes a fount of practical advice accrued from years of experience. Accessible and personal, this book is perfect for any worship leader, songwriter or musician looking to foster a heart of worship themselves and in the church.
Facedown by Matt Redman. When we encounter God’s holiness, kneeling is the only appropriate response. Reverence characterises the awestruck worshipper. Matt Redman writes, "When we face up to the glory of God, we find ourselves face down in worship."
In this book, Redman seeks to reinstate the place of reverence, wonder, and awe in worship. He considers God's holiness - his “otherness” - and draws application for our praise today. Passionate and punchy (it’s less than 100 pages), this book will provoke and rouse you.
